  1. ENTRIES/DETECTED
  2. ================
  3.  
  4.  These functions allow displaying and processing of previously found
  5.  entries. Here is a description of the functions:
  6.  
  7.  
  8.    * DISPLAY:  Displays all found entries in a small table
  9.      --------  within a window.
  10.                Each entry can be clicked on with the mouse to
  11.                show any graphic information and the specific
  12.                thumbnail on the screen. The following additional
  13.                functions are available:
  14.  
  15.                  - View:          Displays the corresponding graphics
  16.                                   on the screen.
  17.  
  18.                  - Remove:        Removes the entry from the list
  19.                                   of found entries.
  20.  
  21.                  - Print list:    Prints all found entries as a table
  22.                                   (only picture name and file path)
  23.                                   on a printer.
  24.  
  25.                  - Cancel:        Closes the window and returns to
  26.                                   the main screen.
  27.  
  28.  
  29.    * List:         Shows all the found entries as a table on the screen.
  30.      -----         The table can also be sent to a printer.
  31.                    The user can select between different output formats
  32.                    (see section ENTRIES/LIST).

  34.    * Remove:       Removes all found entries from the catalogue.
  35.      -------
  36.  
  37.    * Delete:       Deletes all found entries from the catalogue and also
  38.      -------       deletes the corresponding graphic files.
  39.  
  40.                    DANGER: ALL THESE GRAPHIC FILES WILL BE LOST FOREVER.
  41.  
  42.    * Reset:        The number of found graphics will be reset so that a
  43.      ------        new run has to be started to search for specific
  44.                    entries.
  45.  
  46.    * Reverse:      The status of all found entries will be inverted.
  47.      --------      Entries which had been declared as being found
  48.                    will now be deselected and vice versa.
  49.  
  50.    * Slideshow:    Creates a slide show from all found graphics.
  51.      --------      A menu appears where a kind of slide show
  52.                    (delay between graphics, replay order, etc.) can
  53.                    be defined.
  54.  
  55.    * Export:       Exports all the found entries to a new catalogue.
  56.      -------       A menu appears for entering the catalogue name
  57.                    and an additional description of the newly created
  58.                    catalogue to which the entries have to be copied.
  59.  
  60.    * Reorganise:   With the PictureManager professional it is possible
  61.      -----------   to recopy your graphic archives, for example
  62.                    sorted by motives, on your hard disk automatically.
  63.                    For this, the functions MARKED/REORGANIZE
  64.                    and DETECTED/REORGANIZE are available.
  65.                    With MARK ALL you may quite simply prepare a complete
  66.                    catalogue for further processing
  67.                    (e.g. reorganise, convert, export, etc.)
  68.                    But now back to reorganisation:
  69.                    For copying specific (or all) graphics of a catalogue
  70.                    to another directory, mark these or search for these
  71.                    - e.g. all graphics with automobile motives in it - via
  72.                    the function SEARCH PATTERN. After
  73.                    that use MARKED/REORGANIZE or DETECTED/REORGANIZE.
  74.                    A menu appears where the following settings have
  75.                    to be done: At first select a directory to which the
  76.                    chosen files should be copied to.
  77.                    By deactivation of the switch "Display error messages"
  78.                    you may suppress error messages during the copy
  79.                    procedure.
  80.                    In such a case, graphics already present  will
  81.                    be overwritten without any further requests.
  82.                    If this is not wished to be done, the switch should
  83.                    be kept activated. By activating the switch "Take new
  84.                    data" the destination path of the graphic will be added
  85.                    to the current catalogue. With this action,
  86.                    PMPro will only use the new graphics for any further
  87.                    access. The last switch "Delete source graphics"
  88.                    will delete the original graphic without the
  89.                    possibility of ever getting it back (danger!).

  91.                    Hint: When reorganising your graphic archives on
  92.                    hard disk with this function, you should for safety
  93.                    reasons not immediately delete the source graphic.
  94.                    Sometimes hard disk errors may cause data to be lost.
  95.                    It is better to use "CATALOG/COPY"
  96.                    for creation of a duplicate
  97.                    catalogue and then reorganise the graphics (without
  98.                    deletion). Then take over the copies into the duplicate
  99.                    catalogue. Should all graphics have been recopied
  100.                    successfully, reload the original source catalogue.
  101.                    Now you may delete the recopied source graphic
  102.                    from there (via MARKED/DELETE or DETECTED/DELETE from
  103.                    the popup menu).

  106.    * Convert:      With MARKED/CONVERT or DETECTED/CONVERT you may
  107.      --------      convert huge numbers of graphics into other graphic
  108.                    file formats automatically or for example apply
  109.                    just a colour reduction from 24BIT to 256 colours
  110.                    to these.
  111.                    After having called one of the two functions, a
  112.                    menu appears in which the following settings have to
  113.                    be made:
  114.  
  115.                     * The directory where you wish to save the new graphic.
  116.                     * With the switch "take new data" the source graphic
  117.                       data will be replaced by those of the newly created
  118.                       graphic (path, name, type, colour depth, etc.)
  119.                       within the catalogue files.
  120.  
  121.                    After that a second menu appears where a
  122.                    graphic file format and colour depth for the
  123.                    source files can be selected (please note, that
  124.                    not all of the possible graphics file formats 
  125.                    support all colour depths). The switch "display error
  126.                    messages" will show any error messages during the
  127.                    conversion procedure (e.g. not enough memory) and
  128.                    warnings (request whether existing graphics should be
  129.                    overwritten). When disabled, graphics will always be
  130.                    overwritten. Also, no messages about any occurred
  131.                    errors will be indicated.
  132.                    The last switch "Delete source graphics" will delete
  133.                    the original graphics without a possibility
  134.                    of ever getting it back (danger!).
  135.                    When converting your graphic archives on hard disk
  136.                    with this function, you should for safety reasons not
  137.                    immediately delete the source graphics but instead
  138.                    do this when all graphics have been processed
  139.                    successfully.

  141.                    Example: With this function you may easily and very
  142.                    comfortably convert all graphics of a PhotoCD
  143.                    into IFF graphics with 256 Colours.
  144.                    In this special case you would have to do the following:
  145.                    Create a catalogue and read the PhotoCD by starting
  146.                    Expand/PhotoCD.
  147.                    Then select:
  148.  
  149.                     * Entries/Mark all
  150.                     * Marked/Convert with the following switches:
  151.                        - display error messages
  152.                        - take new data
  153.                        - no deletion of original graphics
  154.                        - output format IFFCompByteRun1 and 256 Colours
  155.  
  156.                    After entering the save path you have to start
  157.                    the conversion procedure. This will certainly take
  158.                    some time, since every PCD-graphic will have to be
  159.                    passed through a high quality colour
  160.                    reduction including dithering.
  161.                    After the conversion procedure has finished,
  162.                    all the PCD-files will have been stored as IFF-files
  163.                    on your hard disk.
  164.                    The new catalogue will from now on (via activation
  165.                    of "take data") access these IFF-graphics.
  166.                    You may now view, print, etc. your graphic whenever
  167.                    you want even without having the corresponding PhotoCD
  168.                    in the drive.

  171.    * Add to LHA:
  172.      -----------  
  173.      This function allow you to   
  174.      archive (or add to an archive) a number of marked/found graphics 
  175.      with LHA. So you have an easy way to store / archive your
  176.      favorite pictures into one LHA-Archive!
